Benefits of Using MONOFLEX® Expandable Braided Sleeving
MONOFLEX® is Atkins & Pearce’s flagship brand of expandable braided sleeving. This collection of high-quality solutions presents customers with many benefits, such as:
- Field-ready design: Our scissor-cut expandable braided sleeving is ideal for applications where hot scissors are not readily available. This field-ready design saves you time and costs on installation.
- Excellent protection: Wires and cables remain protected from various elements thanks to the durable PET materials used. Our expandable braided sleeving has fray-, abrasion-, and heat-resistant properties.
- Pulling and bending prevention: Some cables and wires are sensitive to pulling and bending. Aside from resistance to extreme heat, fray, and abrasion, our expandable braided sleeving reinforces the strength of the cable and wire bundles.
- Customizable options: Atkins & Pearce offers custom solutions to clients with specific braided sleeving needs. We can design and manufacture fray-resistant expandable sleeving according to your preferred dimensions and lengths to ensure the perfect fit and coverage.
- Quick installation: Its high expansion ratio allows the braided sleeving to be installed with a single pull. Easily adjust the sleeving by sliding it into place all while keeping your bundled wires and cables intact.

Expandable Braided Sleeving FAQs
How do you size braided sleeving?
Braided sleeving should be the same diameter as the bundle unless you require a looser or more snug fit.
How do you install non-split expandable braided sleeving?
Prepare your cables by disconnecting them from devices and removing any coverings such as cable ties or tapes. Cut the non-split braided sleeving to your desired length. To install, gather the cable bundle and slide the sleeving from one end of the bundle until you reach the other end. Ensure the sleeving covers the entire length of the cable and adjust as needed. Repeat the process for all cables.
How do you cut sleeving?
The Monoflex® expandable braided sleeving can be cut using a hot knife. Measure the sleeving to your desired length and cut as you see fit. As you use a hot knife, be aware of potential off-gassing from some polymers and complete this work in a well-ventilated area with the appropriate protective equipment.
What is the difference between heat shrink tubing vs. expandable sleeving?
Heat shrink tubing and expandable sleeving are two of the most popular cable management solutions. Expandable sleeving uses woven braided material that is usually flexible and allows easier movement. Heat shrink tubing, on the other hand, is a cylindrical tube made of a more rigid material that shrinks when heated. Both options offer protection and insulation for cables, but they differ in adaptability.
Expandable sleeving is suitable for irregularly shaped cables or applications that require more flexibility. It provides protection from abrasion, dust, and other elements that may cause minor impact, and it allows for better draining. Expandable sleeving is reusable and allows for easy removal and replacement.
Heat shrink tubing, due to its rigid nature, offers better protection from chemicals, moisture, and extreme heat. It’s more suitable for applications that require a snug fit. Once shrunk, heat shrink tubing is difficult to remove, if not impossible, without cutting.
